Alpha Sports Performance Medicine was founded by Dr. Ben Bumguardner, an experienced sports chiropractor who had worked extensively with Olympic‑level athletes and elite competitors. Motivated by his own athletic background and a belief in holistic, top-level care, Dr. Bumguardner established the clinic to provide personalized, multidisciplinary sports medicine—ranging from chiropractic and physical therapy to sports psychology, nutrition, and recovery services—all under one roof.
The original clinic opened in College Station, Texas in 2017, welcoming athletes of all levels—from weekend warriors to professionals—with a promise: care reflecting the standard expected by Olympians and elite performers. This “Athletic Leaders Perfected by Habits & Actions” (ALPHA) ethos quickly became core to their identity and mission.
Since that first location, Alpha Sports has expanded to multiple sites, including a second clinic in McKinney, Texas, which opened in April 2023. Each location maintains the same premier approach: offering “prehab,” recovery, performance, and rehabilitation services, and leveraging techniques like shockwave therapy, functional dry needling, sports massage, recovery compression systems, and specialized concussion screening.
