Lia Hakim, a hairstylist by trade and former flight attendant, opened her first blow‑dry–only salon in 2013—after feeling inspired at her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah, when she found herself frequently visiting blow‑dry bars for styling inspiration. Though initially focused solely on blow‑outs, Lia soon recognized that many stylists working in similar boutiques didn’t see these roles as sustainable long‑term career paths. Within a few years, this realization led her to expand into a full‑service salon called Totally Hott Salon in 2016, offering cuts, color, extensions, treatments, and more for women, men, and children.
From there, the vision continued to evolve. By 2018, Lia and her team had added services like lashes and wellness‑oriented treatments. These expansions were driven both by team ideas and client demand, grounded in Lia’s belief in creating stable, multi‑career opportunities within the company. Alongside beauty services, the brand embraced a holistic mission— “Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be Hott.”—emphasizing hair, health, and wellbeing, and extending support to clients and staff through empowerment, financial planning, and community-focused initiatives like work with Hello Gorgeous salons for cancer care clients.
